Retrofit LPR Probes
The retrofit Linear Polarisation Resistance (LPR) probe is designed to be installed into existing steel reinforced concrete structures. It comprises a Silver/Silver Chloride (Ag/AgCl) reference electrode, a pseudo-reference electrode and an auxiliary electrode enabling LPR corrosion rate measurements to be performed on the steel reinforcement bar in the locality of the probe. An electrical connection to the steel is required.
The probe can be installed in any existing steel-reinforced concrete structure, providing the basis for a corrosion monitoring system. Installation is simple, requiring a 35 mm diameter hole to be bored, the probe inserted, and the hole backfilled with mortar. A flying lead
connection to the steel is needed. An optional 64-bit ID chip allows automatic probe location information to be recorded when used with a Portable Data Collection System (PDCS) instrument.
